Joseph Anthony Potts, 62, passed away during the afternoon of August 2, 2023. He was born December, 9, 1960, in Washington, to Robert "Bob" Gadberry and Elizabeth "Betty" Pauline Potts. He was married to Angela Lynne Potts, and they shared twenty-three years together.

Joseph was a 1979 graduate of Washington Catholic High School; he went on to the University of Southern Indiana where he earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Science in 1998. He was the superintendent of the Water and Utilities Department for the City of Bloomington. A man of many interests, Joseph loved nature and being outdoors, enjoyed basketball and going to concerts for 1980s music. He was known to be a kind and thoughtful person who always took time to help others. He was a member of the Bloomington Moose Lodge and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. He attended church in Bloomington in his later years.

Those who now mourn Joseph's passing include his mother, Betty Potts of Washington; his ex-wife, Angela Lynne Potts of Newburgh; his children: Jordan Thomas Potts of Evansville, Joseph Robert (Jaclyn) Potts of Newton, Illinois, and Ashley Lauren Faith Potts of Newburgh. Additionally, he leaves a sister, Anna Potts of Evansville, a cousin, Diane McKinley of Washington as well as several other cousins.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Bob Potts; his aunt, Mary Frances Padgett, and his uncle, Bernie J. Padgett.

Visitation for Joseph Anthony Potts will be 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joseph Anthony Potts at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Washington. Father Paul Ferguson will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. John Cemetery.
