Obituary

J. Robert "Bob" Mattingly, age 81 of Washington, passed away at Golden Living Center in Petersburg. He was born May 21, 1933 in Loogootee to Flora (Greenwell) and Thomas Ervin Mattingly. He attended St. John High School in Loogootee. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He retired from DIA in Jasper. He belonged to Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed IU Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. Bob is survived by his wife, Clara Mae (Collignon) Mattingly, who he married October 6, 1960, son; Scott (Annette) Mattingly of Washington, and one grandchild; Matthew Mattingly of Washington, step grandchildren; Zach Williams of Bloomington and Jonathon Williams of Vincennes. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; James Francis, George, Larry, Tom, and Louis, sisters; Elizabeth Goble, Louise Neideffer, and LaVerne Williams. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery with military rites provided by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 - 8 pm at Ed Lee Mortuary with the Knights of Columbus saying the rosary at 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 and American Diabetes Association, 4400 Washington Avenue, Suite B, Evansville, IN 47714.
