John A. Lewandowski, age 76, of Washington, passed away on Saturday morning at Daviess Community Hospital. He was born October 19, 1942 in Northfield, Minnesota, to Jeanette A. (Rasmussen) and Alphonse J. Lewandowski. He attended Northfield High School. He married Shirley (Frerich) Lewandowski in Little Falls, MN, June 29, 1963. He started his work career at Malt-O-Meal in Northfield, Minnesota. His career later lead him to be a superintendent in the poultry business at Tony Downs in Huntingburg, Indiana. He then worked at Jerome Foods in Barron, Wisconsin. He retired as a superintendent from Perdue Processing Plant in Washington, Indiana. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and American Legion. John enjoyed spending his time gardening, fishing, country living, and most importantly spending time telling stories with family and friends at his shed drinking cold Busch Light. His love for his devoted late wife, kids, and grandkids was something that was never questioned. John is survived by his sons; Mike (Amy) Lewandowski of Washington, Matthew (Jessica) Lewandowski of Washington, Mitchell (Becky) Lewandowski of Plymouth, IN, daughters; Michelle (Steve) Potoczky of Plymouth, IN, Mandi Jo Lewandowski of Washington, Cathy (Dave) Krostue of Fisher, MN, grandchildren; Brett Lewandowski, Nicole Lewandowski, Shaleigh (Jordan) Bouchie, Jonas Lewandowski, Jen (Ryan) Maure, Joe (Ashley) Potoczky, Brandon (Lindsay) Garland, Brianna (James) Letsinger, Kori (Conner) Hudnall, Andy Garland, Chase Lewandowski, Presley Lewandowski, Mayce Lewandowski, Hayle Lewandowski, Jonny Noble, Hannah Reed, Gunner Lewandowski, Gaven Bledsoe, Gracie Lewandowksi, Samantha (James) McBain, Josh (Nicole) Krostue, Katie (Cody) Johnson, 17 great-grandchildren, sisters; Mary Jane (Mick) Lindberg of Rochester, MN, Kathy (Larry) DeMars of Maple Lake, MN, brother; Kenny (Sharon) Lewandowski of Lakeville, MN. Preceding him in death were his wife, Shirley Lewandowski, his parents, son, Mark Lewandowski, and brother, Joe Lewandowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Washington, with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Washington. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 to 8pm at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel 620 E. Viola Ave. Washington, IN.
