John "Jack" Charles Craney , age 84 , passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Daviess Community Hospital. He was born July 6, 1930 in Montgomery to J. Herman Caney and Mary (Williams) Craney. He was a 1948 Montgomery High School graduate. He has farmed since 1954 and delivered mail for the United States Postal service. Jack served in the US Army Signal Corp from July 1951 - June 1953. He also served on the Barr-Reeve School Board for 16 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter''s Catholic Church in Montgomery. Jack is survived by his wife Margaret (Healy) whom he married on July 11, 1953. They were married for 61 years. Jack is survived by sons John K. Craney, Florida , Anthony Leo (Vicky) Craney, Newburgh, Christopher Joseph (Elaine) Craney, North Carolina, Patrick James (Laura) Craney, Montgomery and Michael Charles (Danice) Craney, Illinois; daughters Jacqueline Susan Craney, Argyle, Texas, Mary Theresa Buehner of Newburgh, Julia Ann (Terry ) Lamar, Loogootee and a sister Carolyn Bouchie of Washington. Jack is survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death four brothers and a two sisters; Thomas Floyd Craney, James Jerome Craney, Merle Craney, J. Howard Craney, Mary Alma Jones, and Joan Wallner Visitation will be from 4 - 8 pm on Friday, July 18 at St. Peter''s Catholic Church, Montgomery, Indiana. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday , July 19 at St. Peter''s Catholic Church with Father James Koressel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter''s Cemetery with full military rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
