Dr. John M. Gray Jr., 72, of Washington, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 in Washington.

John was born on July 30, 1946 in Washington to John M. and Mary (Castleman) Gray. John graduated from Washington High School in 1964, Indiana State University with a B.S. and M.S. and Ed Specialist degree and later received his doctorate of education from Indiana University. He had taught at Mitchell Emerson Elementary. He had retired from Washington Community Schools and the University of Southern Indiana. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington and loved trains, dogs, traveling and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Sue (Thompson) Gray, whom he married, December 20, 1969; cousin, Mary Loyden Present and beloved lab, Ginger.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 28th at 1:00 p.m. at Chambersville Cemetery, 9 N County Line Rd E, Spencer, Indiana 47460 with Rev. Tim Baxter officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel, 620 East Viola Ave Sunday, January 27, 2019.
