James R. McGookey , age 90, of Washington, passed away at 10:12 AM on Sunday at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. He was born on October 26, 1919in Washington to John E. and Elsie (Foster) McGookey. He graduated in 1937 from Washington High School. He retired in 2002 from McGookey and sons Painting Contractors. He enjoyed music, photography, and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Reba (Feagans) McGookey whom he married on September 24, 1943; one daughter and son in-law, Diane and Darrel Beeker of Columbus, Indiana; two sons and daughters in-law, James D. and Cindy McGookey of Huntingburg, and Robert L .and Beth McGookey of Washington; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John McGookey A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 2 PM.
