James " Douglas" Emmick, age 57 of Washington, passed away June 2, 2015 at 3:37 pm at Daviess Community Hospital. He was born January 6, 1958 in Washington to Jack and Marianna (Burrous) Emmick. He was a 1977 Washington High School graduate. He worked at Washington Tire and Auto from high school graduation till 1989 and worked at various tire stores. He started working at Waffle House/Sunshine Caf as prep cook and maintenance. He also played Santa Claus at Christmas for the kids. He was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church in Jasper. Doug as an avid Nascar fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. He was raised on a farm and loved his pony "Jenny". He loved doing demolition derbies at county fairs. He enjoyed the car fest every year, especially the "cruise". Although never having any of his own children, he had many special kids and loved them all. Two very special young adults in his life were Brad Hotz and Laura Windholt. Surviving are his wife, Janet (Ferguson) Emmick who he married December 10, 1977, sisters; Louise Nalker of Washington and Cindy Emmick, of Bicknell, several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were both parents, and sisters; Jacqueline Sue Huff and Carolyn Kay Duzan. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Visitation will also be Friday from 9 - 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial to follow at New Veale Creek Cemetery.
