Helen Jones, age 97, of Washington, passed away at 12:55 PM at The Villages at Oakridge on Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born October 21, 1919 in Daviess County to Timothy Brennan and Agnes (Miller) Brennan. She graduated from Washington High School in 1937 and Vincennes University in 1939. She earned a masters degree from Oakland City University and an undergraduate degree from Indiana State University. She married Lester D. Buster'' Jones on Sept 13, 1945. She retired from the Washington School system. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope, D of I, VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a regent for the D of I for 15 years. She is survived by four sons Tony and Nancy Jones of Huntsville Alabama, Tim and Leslie Jones of Dade City Florida, Terry Jones of Washington and Tom and Ordette Jones of Lebanon, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Buster Jones on December 7, 1989; sisters, Mary Alice Norris, Margaret Dant and Ruth Combs. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 00 AM on Monday, October 31 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
