Gloria J. Bassler, 62, Washington, passed away at 3:32 a.m. on January 1, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born March 9, 1944 in Washington, she was the daughter of Oliver and Minnie (Schooley) Charles. She attended Washington High School and was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington. She had been a nurse's aid before she became disabled. She was a RSVP volunteer, a member of VFW Auxiliary, the Eagles, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are one son: Rod Taylor, Greenwood, two daughters: Lisa Watkins, Washington, and Sherri Rice, Nashville, IN., a brother; Steve Charles, Washington, four sisters; Beverly Polzin, Washington, Marcella Gray, Washington, Gail Burkhart, Odon, and Grace Bright, Washington, and grandchildren; Kory, Kevin, and Kirsten McDaniel of Nashville, IN., Nathan and Meghan Taylor of Greenwood, and Andrew and Amelia Watkins of Washington. Proceeding her in death were her parents, one grandson; Joey McDaniel, and one brother; Bud Charles. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev.
