Fred Smith, age 84, of Washington, passed away at 3:25 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016, at St Mary Medical Center in Evansville. He was born on June 6, 1932 in Washington to Fred and Mary (Kramer) Smith. He was retired from Newland Tire and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Washington American Legion. Fred enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and squares, and helping his lovely wife around the house. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Edwards) Smith whom he married on July 12, 1958; two daughters, Vicki Butler of Hendersonville, Tennessee and Teresa Davis of Evansville; two sons, Anthony "Tony" Smith of Washington and Larry Smith of Bloomington; one sister, Kay Johnson of O''Fallon, Illinois; grandchildren, John William Butler, Jacob Butler, Ryan Smith, Tabitha Smith, and Logan Davis; four great grandchildren, Anthony Smith, Luke Butler, Liam Butler, Draven Boger, Gentry Smith Laekyn Smith, and Levi Butler. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Fredrick James Jim'' Smith. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary Burial will be at a later date.
