Floyd E. Byrd, age 68, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at 7:58 a.m. at the Eastgate Manor Nursing Home. Floyd was born October 31, 1946, to Velmer Byrd and Clyde Evelyn (Foster) Byrd. He attended Washington Schools during most of his school years but graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1966. He worked for the city of Washington Water Department, Daviess Community Hospital and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions. He is survived by his two sons, Lonnie Byrd and Sean (Tess) Byrd all of Washington, five grandchildren, two sisters; Linda (Les) Smith of Washington and Lela Hendrixson of Valparaiso, and two brothers Velmer Byrd, Jr. of Washington and Stancil Edwards of Florida, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers; Paul Edwards, Duane Edwards and a sister, Leta (Colvin) Wilkerson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Ed Lee Mortuary with burial following in Sugarland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, Fifth Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851
