Ernestine K. Granger, age 71, of Alexandria, Virginia formerly of Wheatland, was called home by the LORD Tuesday afternoon while at Mt Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born on February 26, 1941 in Washington IN to Oral and Myrtle (Sanders) Ash. She was a Graduate of Vincennes University with an Associate degree in Restaurant & Food service management. She retired as a Qualified Nursing Assistant for a local Home health care agency in Vincennes IN. She was a former Sunday school teacher and longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Wheatland. She had attended the Emanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va. Her interests were in her family, pets, quilting and internet surfing. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Lisa A. & George Robertson and Charlotte & Luis Prado all of Alexandria, Virginia; one brother, Jack Watson; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Bilskie; two niece's, Marilyn Padgett of Plainville IN and Jennifer Ash of Vincennes IN; one nephew John Small of Evansville IN. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin L. Granger and one son, Martin L. Granger Jr., her parents; Oral and Myrtle (Sanders) Ash, one brother, Oral Ash Jr.; and two sisters, Billie Nora (Ash) Hudson and Mary (Ash) Small. A Home Going service & burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Hawkins Cemetery in Washington IN with Pastor Robert Granger officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in her name.
