Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Branaman Mangin, known as Libby to all who met this beautiful, sweet lady, shed her light on this world from July 2, 1921 to April 11, 2016. Visitation will be at Ed Lee Mortuary, Washington, Indiana, from 12 pm to 2:30 pm Saturday, April 16, 2016 with a memorial service beginning at 2:30 followed by a burial at St. John''s Cemetery. As the first born daughter to the late Harry Wells Branaman and Molly Vera Terrill Branaman in Washington, Indiana, her nurturing role started at a young age, helping in the care of her five siblings, Harry Branaman Jr. of Mobile, Alabama, surviving, and deceased: Hugh and Richard Branaman, Barbara Branaman Frye and Jean Branaman Wonder. She was a devoted wife to Frederick Joseph (Fritz) Mangin, who preceded her in death in 1987, and a loving mother to four daughters, Charlotte Keiser (John), deceased, and surviving: Phyllis Briggeman (John) in Washington, IN, Patricia Adams (Robert) in Evansville, IN, and Lynn Burkhardt (Robert) in Louisville, KY. She was very proud of being a Grammie'' to her many grandchildren, Rhett, Brent (deceased), Greg and Carolyn Keiser, Anita Briggeman Dunt, Carla Briggeman Mahan, Ed Briggeman, Amy Briggeman Schmitz, Mark Adams and Claire Burkhardt. She had 18 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Libby told fond stories from her time as a volunteer admin to Coach Marion Crawley of Washington High School. After graduation, by working at the former Sonny and Sis clothing store in Washington, Indiana, she delighted in keeping her precious girls well dressed, later sewing many of their clothes for them. And she was a wonderful homemaker who was very proud of her homes over the years. She lived most of her life in Washington, Indiana with her last address on Parkdale Drive. After a couple of winters in Green Valley Arizona, she and Fritz moved to Naples Florida for several years. After Fritz passed away, she moved back to Indiana, Evansville, to be closer to her family. The last five years were spent at Atria Assisted Living in Louisville, KY. She marveled that she had made it'' to 94 years of age. She lived everyday sharing her happy outlook on life. Everyone she saw got a sing-songy hellooo, how ya doin today, or a wave from a distance. She didn''t know the meaning of stranger''. She was a social butterfly, joining clubs and organizations throughout her life. In Washington, she was on the women''s bowling league, and she belonged to the Home Ec and D of I Clubs. She sang with the Sweet Adelines in Florida and joined the Red Hats in Evansville. And she served as a welcome ambassador at Atria Assisted Living in Louisville. She stated often that family was most important to her and she spear headed many Branaman family reunions. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Louisville''s Baptist Hospital and the Hosparus and Palliative care givers there. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baptist Health Foundation - Palliative Care Fund, Baptist Hospital Foundation, 4000 Kresge Way, Louisville, KY 40207-9897, www.baptisthospitalfoundation.org or to the Hosparus-Hospice Foundation, www.hosparus.org .
