Earl J. Colvin, 102 went home to be with the Lord at 2:25 am on Thursday, May 9, 2019. He was born April 28, 1917, in Corning, Indiana, to Patrick and Mary (Riney) Colvin. He married Doris (Chestnut) Colvin June 28, 1941.


Earl was an Army Veteran of World War II and had retired as a Supply Clerk from the B & O Railroad. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Earl is survived by his children Mary Alice (Jim) McDonald of Haubstadt, Indiana, Brenda McDonald of Brownsburg, and Alan (Brenda) Colvin of Washington. There are nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Earl's sister, Louise (Dan) O'Conner of Greenfield survives, also.


Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Chestnut) Colvin, who passed away March 8, 2005; brothers, Jim Colvin, Bernard Colvin, Jerry Colvin, Raymond Colvin, and  Lawrence Colvin; sisters, Katherine Spaulding, Josie Wade, Rosemary Raymann, Clara Shedelbower, Bernadette Craney and Dorothy O"Connor; son-in-law, George McDonald.


Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2019, at the Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am  on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Ferguson as celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. John Cemetery with Military Graveside Service by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
