Dorothy Kurkey, age 97, of Plainville, passed away November 19, 2017 at Symphony of Crown Point in Indiana.
She was born on February 10, 1920 in Elnora, to George W. and Lockie (Roark) Meurer, and was a member of Plainville Christian Church. Dorothy loved socializing, quilting, baking and crocheting blankets for others.  She was loved by many and will truly be missed.
She is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Robert) Young of Crown Point, Indiana; one son, Eric (Karen) Kurkey of O'Fallon, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Marie Kurkey of O'Fallon, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Greg, T.J. and Tiffany Kurkey, Cory Kurkey, Shelia Villarreal, Alicia Iles and Ashley Hall; and multiple great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis R. Kurkey, whom she married June 22, 1943; son, Anthony Kurkey; sister, Martha Porter and two brothers Roy Meurer and Earl Meurer.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
