Donald Joseph Colvin Sr., went to his heavenly home on October 17, 2026, just two days shy of his 85th birthday, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to his family.
Don was born on October 19, 1941, in New Albany, Indiana, to Fred and Helen (Craney) Colvin. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the National Guard. A hardworking and determined man, Don built a successful career in sales management and was instrumental in helping establish the local A&R Hardware store. He possessed a natural understanding of business, a strong work ethic, and a gift for making the most of every opportunity.
On November 5, 1993, Don married Wanda (Gress) Colvin, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and companionship.
Don was a man who found happiness in life's simple pleasures. An enthusiastic sports fan, Don had a love for NASCAR racing, football, and basketball, and could always appreciate the excitement of a good game. He also took great pride in caring for his yard, finding peace and satisfaction in watching the things he planted grow and flourish. Though he was happiest in the comfort of his own home, nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by the people he loved.
Above all, Don was a family man. His children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and the time he spent with them was among his greatest treasures. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit, always ready with a little teasing or a clever remark to bring a smile to someone's face. Rarely one to lose his temper, Don carried himself with a calm and easygoing nature that made others feel comfortable in his presence. He was loving, thoughtful, and generous with his wisdom, always willing to offer sound advice or a helping hand when it was needed.
Don was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. His life was a beautiful reminder that true happiness is often found in the simplest moments, the love we share, the laughter we create, and the memories we leave behind. While his family will deeply miss his familiar smile, gentle presence, and steady guidance, they will forever carry the warmth of his love in their hearts.
Those left to cherish Don's memory include his loving wife, Wanda Colvin; his children, Donald “Joe” Colvin Jr., Cindy Colvin, and Lori Ann Gluck; and his grandchildren, Brandon Colvin, Dustin Gluck (Barb Creasey), Megan (Dakota) Corado, and Andrew (Charlie) Gluck.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Colvin; his sister, Linda Troutman; and his beloved grandson, Ryan Gluck.
Though Don's earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the countless smiles he inspired will remain with his family for generations to come.
Visitation for Don will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ed L. Lee Mortuary. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., with Father James Koressel officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
