Obituary

Derwin J. Brustkern age 77 of Washington passed away on Tuesday at 6:45 PM at Daviess Community Hospital. He was born in Gilbertville, Iowa to the late William J. and Gladys (Bedard) Brustkern. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo, Iowa, the Washington American Legion , Washington Eagles, and Teamster Union Local 215. When his health was better he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends. Surviving is his wife Judy (Forbes) Brustkern whom he married on December 23, 1967, one step-daughter, Lisa Bland of Washington, two sons, Derwin Brustkern Jr., Robert Brustkern both of Colorado; three daughters, Teresa Kaspari,Linda O'Day, and Nancy Graham all of Colorado; two brothers, William J. Brustkern of Denver, Iowa and John Brustkern of Waterloo, Iowa; three sisters, Mary Ann (Don) Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa, Beatrice Brustkern of Washburn, Iowa, Patricia (Kenny) Frost of Hutson, Iowa; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Cleo Richard, and Joe; and two sidters, Donna frye and Marion Rand. Funeral Service will Be on Friday at 10;30 AM at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev. James Payton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites to be conducted by Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary. Memorials may be sent to the Permanent Memorial Fund at Central Christian Church.
