Dean Taylor, Known to many as  "Big Dean" because he lived life large. Out of a humble beginning from a small one room house and working class parents, Dean leveraged his time in the Navy to go on and attend Michigan State University on the G.I. Bill. There, he graduated from the prestigious School of Hotel Management. Soon after graduation Dean went to work for Western Hotels (now Westin), then the newly-formed Hyatt Hotel Chain where he achieved his life dream of becoming a General Manager. This career path required moving every 18 months across the United States as he took on greater responsibilities. Dean was Assistant Manager at the world's first open atrium hotel, the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia in 1966.  He was opening General Manager at the Holiday Inn World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1982 and Regional Director for Cooper Hotels Group.
In addition to his hotel career, Dean was an accomplished golfer, playing in the Western Open. He was also a gourmet cook, enjoyed travelling, and playing blackjack. Dean was married twice, once for 18 years to Marilyn Lewis Treat whom he met while attending Michigan State. Then, to Kaye Amyx of Knoxville, Tennessee for 15 years. Later in life Dean enjoyed the companionship of Rosalie Nevick while living in Pace, Florida. Dean passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 26, 2019. When asked, he said he lived a good life and had no regrets.  Prior to his passing, Dean acknowledged his need for a Savior and hopefully accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord.
