Darrell E. Harner, age 76, of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at his home. He was born on June 30, 1940 in Washington to Walter Eugene and Thelma "Jean" (Goodman) Harner. He was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School. Darrell worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years. He was a member of the Union of Operation Engineers Local 150. He was a member of Petersburg Holiness Church, enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR racing and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Moore Harner; two sons, Zachary of Washington and Trinity Harner of Greencastle; three daughters, Desiree "DeDe" Wade, Rebecca Harner both of Vincenners and Teia Harner of Florida; two brothers, Bill Harner of Idaho and Bernie (Susan) Harner of Montgomery; sister, Linda Holland of Loogootee; and several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepson, Terry Harner. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Burial will follow in New Veale Creek Cemetery.
