Clara A. Gaither age 89 of Washington passed away at 4:25 p.m. Sunday at Daviess Community Hospital. She was born February 5, 1921 in Ireland, Indiana to Walter H. and Caroline M (Goeppner) Steinkamp. She was a 1939 graduate of Washington, High School and had worked for Indiana Bell. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Hopkins Fischer of Mt. Vernon; three sons and daughters in-law, Ronald and Glenda Hopkins of Indianapolis, Victor and Patty Hopkins of Washington, and Dr. Roger and Lorraine Hopkins of Sedalia, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Marc Fischer, Ann Fischer , Brent Hopkins, Brad Hopkins, Sarah Muntel, Ben Hopkins, Hannah Hopkins; ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert C. Hopkins on July 2, 1048; her second husband, Robert William Gaither on March 5, 1990; and one son in-law, William J. Fischer. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church .with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens.
