Charles R. "Charlie" Pride, age 80, of Washington, passed away at 8:26 AM on Friday at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 20, 1932 in Washington to Charles and Geraldine (Brothers) Pride. He attended Washington Catholic High School and was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid Cubs Baseball and IU Basketball fan and loved watching NASCAR on TV. He was retired from Otis Elevator in Bloomington and had worked at McCord Corporation. He was a member of the Washington Eagles and American Legion. He also was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Marilyn (Fox) Pride whom he married on October 6, 1978; two daughters, Donna Pride of Plainville and Stacy Padgett of Washington; three grandchildren, Jordan Pride of Plainville, and Brody Padgett and Brylee Padgett both of Washington; two great grandchildren, Shayleigh Pride and Parker Pride both of Plainville; one sister, Patricia (Don) Wam of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two brothers, Joseph Pride of Charlotte, N.C. AND Garry (Hattie) Pride of Calvert City, Ky.; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rita Ann Pride; two sisters, Margaret Ann Pride and Mary Lou Pride; and one brother Donald R. Pride. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM with a wake service at 4 pm at Ed Lee Mortuary. Memorial Donation may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
