Charlene Thomas, 73, passed away while at the Daviess Community Hospital, September 8, 2021. She was born April 23, 1948, in Washington to Eugene Matteson and Eileen (Best) Matteson.
Charlene was a homemaker who loved to play the piano, and enjoyed genealogy, and liked to play cards and board games. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Those who now mourn losing Charlene include her children: Josh (Maria Hopper) Thomas of Washington, and Sarah (Chase) Burgin, also of Washington. Charlene leaves her special adopted daughter, Melissa Santos of Washington, and a brother, Tom Matteson. She had eight grandchildren, many "self-adopted" grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
During her lifetime, Charlene mourned the loss of her parents, Eileen and Eugene Matteson, her husband, Michael Thomas, and sister, Melanie Wayman.
Visitation will be held at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, North Chapel, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, on Thursday, September 16, 2021, 4:00-8:00 pm.
Funeral services for Charlene Thomas will be held at the Free Methodist Church, 1155 Troy Road, Washington, Friday, September 17, 2021, at 11:00 am. An hour of visitation will be held at the church prior to the funeral, 10:00 - 11:00 am. Pastor Adam Conder will officiate.
Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
