Bobby G. Hartley passed away on October 22, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved him dearly.
Bobby was born on November 26, 1956, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Robert “Bob” and Betty (Lentz) Hartley. In October 1991, he married the love of his life, Darlene (White) Hartley. Together, they shared 32 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love and treasured memories until her passing on December 31, 2023. The love they shared remained a special part of Bobby's life, and there is comfort in knowing they are together once again.
Bobby was a man of few words, but his presence spoke volumes to those who knew and loved him. He found happiness in life's simple pleasures, whether it was watching a demolition derby, enjoying a good game of Uno or Skip-Bo, or cheering on his beloved Indiana Hoosiers. He loved watching wrestling and his favorite television shows, including Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order, and especially Walker, Texas Ranger. With his love for horses and his signature cowboy hat and boots, Bobby had a little cowboy spirit that was all his own.
More than anything, Bobby treasured time spent with his family. He didn't need a lot of words to enjoy being surrounded by the people he loved. It was those simple moments together that meant the most and will now become some of the sweetest memories his family holds close.
Bobby leaves behind his loving children, Chris Hartley of Indianapolis, IN, Kaleb Hartley of Washington, IN, and Kate Hartley of Washington, IN; his stepdaughter, Melissa Traylor of St. Joseph, MI; his cherished grandchildren, Ciera Traylor, Anna Traylor, Sophie Ross, Emerson Hartley, and Grayson Ashby; and his siblings, Sharon Sermersheim of Jasper, IN, Connie Alsman of Hayesville, NC, Patty (Jim) Wade of Springville, IN, Debbie (Darrell) Pattengall of Huntingburg, IN, and Elaine Deel of Jasper, IN. He also leaves behind extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” Hartley and Betty Hartley Conley; his beloved wife, Darlene Hartley; his brother, Michael “Mike” Hartley; and his niece, Crystal Holderfield.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ed L. Lee Mortuary on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
