Betty Jean Toler, 81, passed away on March 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Betty was born on November 7, 1944 in Washington, Indiana to Jessie (Northern) Hatt and Donaldson Hatt. She grew up in the Dutchtown, Pike County area and carried with her a strong sense of family, faith, and compassion throughout her life.

On February 23, 1964, Betty married the love of her life, John A. Toler. Their marriage was one built on devotion, faith, and partnership. Together they were blessed with two sons who brought them great pride and joy.

Betty dedicated many years of her life caring for others as a CNA at Daviess Community Hospital. Her gentle nature, strong work ethic, and caring spirit made her a comfort to many patients and families during difficult times.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Betty was a devoted member of Bible Baptist Church in Otwell, Indiana where she enjoyed worship, fellowship, and the friendships she formed within her church family.

Above all else, Betty loved her family deeply. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren creating lasting memories and sharing her warmth and kindness with each of them. Her family was the center of her life and she took great pride in watching them grow.

Betty leaves behind her loving husband, John A. Toler; her beloved sons, John Harold (Jeannette) Toler and Boyd (Tonja) Toler; and her precious grandchildren, John Mitchell (Casey) Toler, Ellen (Jim) Knapp, Kaitlyn (Jared) Kastner, Kathryn (Anthony) Lindley, Caroline (Kash) Walter, and Caleb (Kristen) Toler. She was also blessed with ten cherished great-grandchildren with another on the way.

She is further survived by her treasured siblings, Mary Ann Boger, Martha Aubrey, Lois (Keith) Willis, and Guy (Krystal) Hatt; along with, several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will all miss her dearly.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Donaldson Hatt, and her precious granddaughter, Courtney Toler.

Betty will be remembered for her gentle spirit, caring heart, and the deep love she had for her family and her faith. Her kindness touched many lives, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Bible Baptist Church, 4995 N. County Rd. 850 E. Otwell, Indiana.

Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Fulchur officiating.

Burial to follow at McClure Cemetery in Algiers, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bible Baptist Church.
